The Mirin, based at the Lagoon Centre in Paisley, helps adults with a moderate to severe learning disability, including autism, who need a structured day service.
We run activities that help you maintain and develop skills, and we design our service around your individual needs.
Each of the activities is focused on you as an individual and is based on goals that are identified in your own plan.
Our registered day service encourages greater independence and life skills in a supportive, inclusive environment. We also aim to increase your health and wellbeing, and promote independence and participation in the community.
We work in partnership with carers, other agencies and each individual to identify and set clear outcomes. We do this through group work activities, both at The Mirin and community facilities, working with a named key worker.
Our staff are fully trained in skills such as promoting positive behaviours, health emergencies and autism awareness, and two reviews are held each year to make sure we meet National Care Standards.
To be able to access the Day Opportunities at The Mirin, you need to live in or around Paisley or Renfrew, be aged 18 or over, have a diagnosis of a moderate to severe learning disability and need support with key aspects of daily living, and would also benefit from regular contact with others in a similar situation.
We can accommodate 75 people each day at the Lagoon and, depending on what support is needed, you can attend the service for between one and five days each week.
We operate between 9am and 3pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am and 2pm on Friday, 50 weeks of the year, but we encourage you to take time off through the year for holidays. Please note, we are closed on public holidays and for regular staff training days.
How to make a referral
In order to be considered for this service, you need to be referred. To make a referral, you must contact the ASeRT Team on 0300 300 1380.
Once we receive your referral, a member of Renfrewshire Learning Disability Service will contact you and support you through the Self-Directed Support process.
