This page has been designed to help HSCP workers easily access information on training, events and awareness dates that are related to equalities and the nine protected characteristics.
Equalities is defined as:
- When every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents
- A belief that no one should have poorer life chances because of the way they were born, where the come from, the colour of their skin, what they believe or if they have a disability
- Recognition that historically certain groups have experienced discrimination and now disadvantage is built into our society.
The Nine Protected Characteristics include:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
This page is supported by the Shaping Our Workforce Plan (22-25) which states the HSCP will deliver the following action to further equality and diversity in Renfrewshire: "Ensure all staff have access to equality training courses available through Renfrewshire Council Corporate Services and NHSGGC and continue bespoke training across the sector".
