Renfrewshire Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) are in the process of updating the current Integration Scheme for Health and Social Care services in Renfrewshire.
The current Integration Scheme was agreed by the Scottish Parliament in June 2015. The Integration Scheme is the legal agreement between the Council and NHSGGC, setting out how the integration of delegated health and adult social care services will be planned, delivered and monitored in Renfrewshire.
The scheme must be reviewed at least every five years, although this review was delayed significantly by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having reviewed the content of the current Scheme, the Council and Health Board are now consulting upon the proposed updated version. The intended changes are relatively minor and of a technical nature - and therefore do not substantively change the range of integrated services or the way that they are planned or delivered.
The changes made to the Scheme include updates to:
- Sections that referred to actions that have been completed since they were committed to in the original Scheme.
- Outdated terminology, such as the name of specific groups or structures
- Add the adoption of a common structure and text, where possible, with Integration Schemes for the other five HSCPs in the NHSGGC area.
- The finance clause to clarify information and ensure greater consistency in approach across the NHSGGC area.
- Reflect changes in legislation since the original Scheme, including the Carers Act and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Arrangements for services that are hosted by one HSCP on behalf of one or more of the six HSCPs in the NHSGGC area.
Although the proposed changes to the Integration Scheme on this occasion are limited, the Council and Health Board are required and committed to consulting with the prescribed consultees as per the Act. Any comments you might have on the draft Scheme are welcomed.
All comments and suggestions will be reviewed to understand whether it is feasible to incorporate them into the final version of the Scheme.
