The Anchor Centre - adults with profound or complex learning disability with associated health problems

The Anchor Centre is a registered day service for people who have a profound or complex learning disability and associated health problems.

Learning Disabilities

Our registered day service encourages greater independence and daily life skills in a safe and stimulating environment that supports learning as well as meeting health and personal care needs.

We work with carers, other agencies and each individual to identify and set clear outcomes through group work and one-to-one activities, working with a named key worker.

Our activities help maintain and develop skills, and we design our service around each person's needs, working towards goals that are identified in their My Plan.

We have a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, large hall and six well-equipped designated areas and our staff are fully trained in skills such as watsu (water shiatsu), which enhances physical and emotional wellbeing; abdominal massage; passive movements; Intensive Interaction; Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS); drama; music and movement. We also work with Indepen-dance to provide Touch Trust sessions.

Two reviews are held each year to make sure we meet National Care Standards.

To be able to access the day opportunities at Anchor Day Service, users need to live in Renfrewshire, be aged 18 or over and have a diagnosis of a severe to profound learning disability with associated health needs. Those who use our service need a high level of support with many aspects of daily living, and benefit from both individual and group work.

We can accommodate 48 people each day in our purpose-built facility and, depending on what support is needed, those who use our service can attend for between one and five days each week.

We operate between 9am and 3pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am and 2pm on Friday, 50 weeks of the year, but we encourage users to take time off through the year for holidays. Please note, we are closed on public holidays and for regular staff training days.
